Quality Control and Certification

Plastic pipe systems have a long history of reliable operation in a wide range of technically demanding applications. Quality is the key to GFs 200 year successful pioneering history in piping systems.

Quality First

GF Piping Systems global reputation has been built on quality. Quality of workmanship in product design and production and also quality in terms of professional, prompt, local technical and logistical support. Quality provides security and is the basis for trust. In project work, in development, production and in the actual use of products, quality consciousness and quality standards determine success. The elementary importance of quality governs how we act, shapes our understanding of quality and is reflected in our own quality standards. GF Piping Systems is committed to fulfilling the quality requirements of its customers and to ensuring adherence to legal norms and standards. Consistently applying our quality policies is the responsibility of each and every one of us. A strong focus on quality is natural for all our employees in performing their daily work.

Certified Systems

Certified management systems ensure that quality standards and goals are anchored company-wide, across all areas and processes; they steer activities aimed at optimization and they coordinate quality assurance. All the production companies and the majority of sales companies worldwide are ISO 9001 certified. The Central Test Lab for material and product approvals, located at the headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025.

Quality Starts with the Raw Material

GF Piping Systems has over 50 years of experience in developing thermoplastic raw materials for use in pressure bearing pipe systems. It is fundamnetal to enable production of quality products that the correct and best possible raw material is used. As part of its global quality control system, GF Piping Systems, specifies strictly its raw materials and quality controls the supplied mateiral by the use of goods inwards testing.

During resin polymerisation, all the production parameters are controlled on-line, such as:
-  ethylene, hydrogen, comonomer concentrations
-  reactor temperature
-  residence time
-  catalyst

Basic properties like melt flow rate (MFR), density, thermal stability (OIT), carbon black dispersion certificate of analysis according to EN 10204-3.1. Mechanical tests shall be performed every year at external institutes to guarantee the raw material quality and its conformity to the initial approval.

All test reports for all the Ineos HDPE are available on request. Additional internal pressure tests are regularly performed by Ineos to guarantee a consistent quality.

Stringent Product Testing

GF Piping Systems quality control systems include short term as well as long term testing. The test criteria use are based on internationally recognised standards. On top of standardised testing many of GF's products are certifed by independent certification bodies, suchg as KIWA, DIBT, DNVGL, and many ,many more.

Two examples below show witnessed certification testing by DNVGL (for approval of PE-100 and COOL-FIT in the global marine industry (IMO A.753)

Pipe Condition Assessment

Pipe condition assessment enables evaluation to the quality of your piping system, providing you with accurate feedback to the pipes qulaity and expected future life-span
